How You Can Gain A Healthy Weight

A lot of people were asking for advice on how to lose weight and I am glad I could help. I hope to get the good feedback soonest. Now is the time for some others who want to add up flesh. Doing this in a healthy way may not be as simple as it may seem, but it is possible and actually now depends on you, because intentionally gaining weight is tricky. However gaining weight with eating pastries, ice cream etc is not the best way.

“You are what you eat” is absolutely true! Nutrients from food are literally the raw materials your body uses to construct new cells. A junk food-filled diet and lacking nutrients doesn’t give your body much to work with.

Here are a few good gain rules; I would love to share with you.

  • Eating often, say 4-5 times daily (Don’t stay more than 3-4 hours without eating something healthy): You should not have any reasons to skip meals, especially your breakfast because your body is like an engine. And your heart, brain, muscles are all working, so you need a continuous supply of energy. If you are low on energy, there is a chance it would tell on your weight. However when you skip meals or don’t eat on time, you deprive your body of the fuel it needs to keep going. Consistency is key!

  • Eat more high-fat foods, like eating avocados with nearly everything or more olive oil on your salads and your breads: But make sure to focus on healthy monounsaturated fats, not the saturated kind. Don’t just load up on butter and full-fat cream cheese because that’ll leave you feeling gross, plus those fats are bad for your overall health. Rather, snack on more nuts throughout the day.

  • Eat several healthy foods at once: Choosing to eat varieties of nutrient rich foods that packs carbohydrates, protein or fat into a small serving at once can be a good help, at least three food groups (instead of just rice and meat, you can include beans, vegetables, a lot of sugar free juice, milk or soy drink etc). Starting with fruits and then the main course after 20 or 30 minutes is better for you. Dried fruits can be a good one to snack on also. Wider varieties will provide your body with range of nutrients to work with throughout the day.

  • Eat right before bed: A lot of our healing, repair and regeneration takes place while we sleep. It’s like rush hour for building muscle and lean tissue, so eating a healthy snack right before bed ensures a fresh supply of nutrients that are available to “go to work” inside the body. A great option that won't leave you feeling stuffed might be a small bowl of pasta salad made with 100 percent whole-grain pasta (wheat preferably),  shredded veggies, a lean protein such as beans or chicken breast.

  • And finally, who said you can’t exercise to gain weight:  Focus more on weight gain exercise. Easing up on the cardio for a bit and directing more of your efforts on strength training may help you pack on healthy pounds because you’ll be building muscle.

Appetite tips

  • Taking a little walk before eating is one of the many ways to help fire up your appetite.

  • The sweet taste of fruit can provoke your appetite, so eat them before your main meal.

  • Choosing your favorite comfort foods with the right spices and herbs to enhance the food flavor may help also.

  • Liquids, including water can fill you up. So drink liquids separately to help make room for nourishing foods.
