Most people feel so embarrassed and even reluctant discussing issues of Libido, well I am bringing it on the table to be discussed. Libido is a person's sex drive and the occasional drop in your sex drive is perfectly normal, especially with the passage of years. Losing interest in sex may not be a common occurrence for men as it is for women. It affects about 15% to 16% of men and at least double the amount for women. "But when men lose interest in sex it scares them more than women -- their masculinity is so linked to their sexuality that it is very threatening," says Esther Perel, a couples therapist in New York city and author of Mating in Captivity.

·         Some of the causes of low sexual drive include:

  • Libido can suffer if there is lack of interest in your partner. Sex may be less attractive to one who thinks that the partner is having an affair.
  • Vaginal dryness in women may contribute to reduced libido, and this happens most times, because some men just go in and out, they rarely have fore play.
  • Mental illness such as a long depression will put your sexual interest on hold.
  •  General Illness from minor as PMS (Premenstrual syndrome or premenstrual stress) in women and STI (sexual transmitted infection) to chronic diseases like heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
  • Many prescription and over-the-counter drugs may induce loss of libido.
  • High intake of alcohol can lead to a slowdown in sexual activity.
  • Chronic stress from work and anxiety can sometimes adversely affect your sex life.
  • Loss of libido after having a baby is not uncommon as most women are too exhausted to think about sex after having a baby.
If this is bringing you down, now you can boost your sex drive with these short guides below:

  • A A healthy diet to include food like walnut, okro (raw or half cooked), watermelon (eating the seed and back), carrots, pumpkin seed, Lettuce, ginger, eggs, Nuts (especially raw groundnut), Avocado, oatmeal while avoiding alcohol, sugar, smoking, tedious work(stress) and lots of medicine.

  • Allowing yourself to explore new found interest in sex: Ensure you always prepare for intimacy, find out which settings spark magic for you and your partner and most importantly be patient with your partner.

  • And lastly, include the right amount of exercise.
