These 12 food should
be present at all times in your homes. Looking at them from a religious point of view
they are filled with lots of health benefit, if only we can follow the rules
and have a more fun filling life.
Milk- Is extracted from mammals during or soon after pregnancy and used as food for
humans. It is the primary source of nutrition for young mammals before they are
able to digest other types of food.
Milk wipes away heat
from the heart just as the finger, it strengthens the brain, renews vision and
drives away forgetfulness. But the problem now is getting the milk your body
desires.
Honey- Is nature's energy booster; it is a great immunity system builder. The
glucose in honey is absorbed by the body quickly and gives an immediate energy
boost, while the fructose is absorbed more slowly providing sustained energy.
When
next you are going for a workout, take a spoon of honey to enable you go for
the extra mile.
Honey is considered
one, if not the best remedy for diarrhea and other ailment. It is extremely
beneficial in the morning, when mixed in warm water and taken. The prophet Muhammad
(PBUH) said: honey is a remedy for every illness and the Quran is a remedy for
all illness of the mind (Bukhari).
Fig- Is
believed to be indigenous to western Asia and to have been distributed by man
throughout the Mediterranean area.
The prophet (PBUH)
mentioned figs and stated, if I had to mention a fruit that descended from
paradise, I would say this is it because the paradisiacal fruits do not have
pits. Eat from this fruit they help prevent hemorrhoids, piles and help gout.
Dates-
According
to a modern medical survey, it is now accepted that dates are useful in
preventing abdominal cancer. They are rich in several
vitamins, minerals and fiber too. These delicious fruits contain oil, calcium,
sulfur, iron, potassium, phosphorous, manganese, copper and magnesium which are
all beneficial for health.
The prophet (PBUH)
said “whoever takes seven ‘Ajwa dates in the morning will not be effected by
magic or poison on that day.” He said: A house without dates has no food. (Bukhari)
Barley- Is a wonderfully
versatile cereal grain with a rich nutlike flavor and an appealing chewy,
pasta-like consistency. Its appearance resembles wheat berries, although it is
slightly lighter in color. It is used in soups and stews, and in barley bread of
various cultures. Barley grains are commonly made into malt in a traditional
and ancient method of preparation.
The prophet (PBUH)
said when cooked, as in soup- can help in fever condition.
Water
melon- Provides
a high amount of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants for a low amount of
calories. There are
five common types of watermelon: seeded, seedless, mini (also known as
personal), yellow and orange.
For pregnant women,
this is especially for you. None of you women who are pregnant and eat of water
melon will fail to produce off spring that is good in countenance and good in
character. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
Grapes-
It
may surprise you to hear that the humble grape is actually considered to be a
berry. Seventy-two million tons of these berries are grown each year worldwide,
with most of them being used to produce wine - 7.2 trillion gallons of wine per
year, to be exact.
The prophet (PBUH)
was very fond of grapes and he said it purifies the blood, provides vigor and
health, strengthens the kidneys and clears the bowels.
Mushroom-
Often
grouped with vegetables, mushrooms provide many of the nutritional attributes
of produce, as well as attributes more commonly found in meat, beans or grains.
Mushrooms are low in calories, fat-free, cholesterol-free, gluten-free, and
very low in sodium, yet they provide important nutrients, including selenium,
potassium, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin D and more.
The prophet (PBUH) said,
it is a good cure for the eyes.
Pomegranates- Is one of the oldest known fruits, found in writings and artifacts of many
cultures and religions; the pomegranate (punica granatum) is an original native
of Persia. This nutrient dense, antioxidant rich fruit has been revered as a
symbol of health, fertility and eternal life. A compound found only in
pomegranates called punicalagin is shown to benefit the heart and blood vessels.
The prophet Muhammad (PBUH)
said it cleans you of shaytaan and evil aspirations for 40 days.
Vinegar- Is a product of fermentation. This is a process in which sugars in a food
are broken down by bacteria and yeast. In the first stage of fermentation,
the sugars are turned into alcohol. Then, if the alcohol ferments further,
you get vinegar. It has been used for many purposes: killing weeds, cleaning
coffee makers, polishing, and dressing salads. It's also an ancient folk
remedy, touted to relieve just about any ailment you can think of.
This is one food prophet
Muhammad (PBUH) eats with olive oil even though it has become old fashioned,
especially in the elite restaurants.
Olive oil- The main type of fat found in all
kinds of olive oil is monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs). MUFAs are actually
considered a healthy dietary fat. Olive oil is pressed from fresh olives. It's
mainly made in the Mediterranean, primarily in Italy, Spain and Greece (though
countries such as America and Australia also produce it).
Olive
oil is assessed on three criteria - fruitiness, bitterness and pepperiness.
It has effect against so
many diseases. It is an excellent treatment for skin and hair, delays old age,
and treats inflammation of the stomach.
Water- Is vital to a productive and growing economy. It is odorless, nearly colorless
and tasteless. Many of the products that you use every day contain it or were
manufactured using it. All forms of life needs it, and if they don't get enough
of it, they die. Political disputes have centered on it. In some places, it's
treasured and incredibly difficult to get. In others, it's incredibly easy to
get and then squandered.
The prophet (PBUH) said
the best drink in this world is water and when you are thirsty, drink it by
sips and not by gulps, gulping produces sickness of the liver.
So for the wise, please
include these foods in your diet as God has blessed us with many good foods.
